Zingira Nyanza: This is a community-based organization of approximately twenty artisans situated in Kisumu, Kenya, near Lake Victoria. The founder and coordinator, Evance Odhiambo, brings together the efforts of local artisans to produce a range of handicraft products made from recycled and locally sourced materials, including recycled paper cards; bags/totes made from recycled plastic; rag dolls made from old cloth; recycled tin crafts such as jewelry, mobiles, hooks, boxes and Christmas decorations; and bags, mats and even furniture made from water hyacinth. They also run a charity program that provides food, clothing and books for orphans and widows in their local rural communities of Seme and Siaya.
